Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account on the Rowing Power Index (“RPI” or the “Service”). If you are under 18, you represent that you have a parent or guardian’s consent to use the Service. By creating an account you confirm that you meet these requirements.

2. Account & Username

Accounts are created via third-party OAuth providers (e.g., Google, GitHub). You are responsible for the security of your linked account.

You may optionally claim a public username. Usernames must be 3–20 lowercase alphanumeric characters or single underscores. We reserve the right to reject or reset any username at our sole discretion.

You may change your username once every 60 days. When you change your username, the previous username is held for 30 days before it becomes available to others.

3. Acceptable Use

When choosing a username or writing a bio, you agree not to:

• Use slurs, hate speech, or discriminatory language.
• Impersonate another person, team, or organization.
• Include personal information of others (doxxing).
• Link to malware, phishing, or sexually explicit content.
• Infringe on trademarks or copyrights.
• Engage in harassment, threats, or intimidation.

We may remove, rename, hide, or suspend accounts that violate these guidelines, without notice.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (usernames, bios, picks). By submitting content, you grant RPI a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display it on the Service. You may delete your account at any time to revoke this license going forward.

5. Moderation & Takedown

We reserve the right to rename, hide, or suspend any account, reset usernames or avatars, and remove any user content at our sole discretion, without prior notice. Moderation actions may include hiding profiles from public view or removing leaderboard entries.

6. Username Release Policy

When a username is released (by user rename, admin reset, or account deletion), it may be claimed by another user after a 30-day cooldown period. We are not responsible for third-party links that reference a username you previously held.

7. Predictions & Disclaimer

Race predictions, power ratings, simulations, prediction-market prices, and bracket or pick’em results on this site are for informational and entertainment purposes only. They are not investment advice, not affiliated with any governing body, and carry no guarantee of accuracy. The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Additional terms specific to prediction markets and Crew Coins are in Section 8.

8. Prediction Markets & Crew Coins

The Service offers Polymarket-style binary prediction markets on race outcomes. Markets are priced by a constant product market maker (CPMM) with a 2% trading fee on each buy or sell, and are settled in Crew Coins, an in-app virtual currency used solely for entertainment within the Service.

Crew Coins have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for money, goods, or services, cannot be transferred between users, and are non-refundable. Monthly bankroll top-ups depend on your subscription tier (currently: Novice 0, JV 1,000, Varsity 5,000 coins per month). Unused coins do not carry cash equivalence regardless of balance.

Prediction markets and Crew Coins are not gambling, are not securities, and are not investment advice. No real money is ever wagered, won, or lost. Nothing on the Service should be used to inform real-world wagers.

Market resolution is determined by RPI staff based on the official results of the relevant race. We reserve sole discretion over resolution, cancellation, and refund of open positions in the event of a data error, race postponement, or other ambiguity. Disputes about resolution may be submitted through the contact page.

We reserve the right to void trades, reset wallets, or revoke access to markets for users found to be manipulating prices, colluding, exploiting bugs, or otherwise abusing the system.

9. Championship Brackets & Pick’em

The Service offers pick’em selections and championship-style bracket predictions. Submissions may be subject to tier-based limits. Leaderboards, points, and rankings derived from picks are for entertainment only and carry no prize, payout, or real-world value.

We reserve the right to correct, recompute, or void pick results and leaderboard standings in the event of a data error or race correction.

10. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. We may terminate or suspend access to accounts that violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your username is released and your public profile is removed.

11. Copyright & DMCA

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, please contact us at the email address below with a description of the copyrighted work, the allegedly infringing content, and your contact information. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising under or related to these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of the state in which the operator resides.
